NRF 2008 Highlights from Manthan

Manthan concluded a splendid NRF 2008 where it showcased its popular ARC Retail Business Intelligence solution. It was a grand annual celebration of Manthan and its ecosystem, highlighting the 2007 achievements of several new customers, an expanded partner network, and cutting edge BI innovation in ARC.

It was a great start to 2008 with several new relationships underway, and Manthan seeing a tremendous response to its leading retail business intelligence solution.

On of the themes in the event was focused on the impact of the slowdown in the US economy. The AMR Research NRF 2008 speaks how the "Dark Economic Clouds Failed to Dampen Retailers' Technology Spending Moods".

Analyst Robert Garf highlights the increasing and critical role of packaged applications in retail technology portfolios.

An excerpt from his article explains,

"Our conversations and research shows retailers remain committed to commercially available software applications to help improve their businesses. In fact, the role of packaged applications in retail continues to expand with more than 50% of retailer portfolios composed of packaged applications for the first time in history. This is a dramatic and recognizable shift for the industry, as retailers traditionally rely on in-house application development."

"The prevailing strategy for most attendees focused on technology projects that are finite in length, 6 to 12 months, and designed to receive a demonstrable return within one year. This may put at risk large-scale enterprise merchandise management initiatives that are typically multiple years and often distributive to the business during implementation."

Manthan believes the pressures on the US economy bring even more focus on the area of business intelligence and performance management by raising the bar for retailers to achieve higher productivity, capitalizing on product/market/customer opportunities and a greater utilization of its resources.

Across the globe, Manthan's customers such as Woolworth, Game Group, Haggen Supermarkets, and Robinsons who adopted ARC, have experienced improved margins, better customer retention, inventory efficiency, promotion effectiveness and increased share of customer wallet, while benefiting from less markdowns, prevented losses and reduced delays in the supply chain.

AMR Research analyst Janet Suleski highlights Manthan in her article "Retailers Remain Bullish On Enterprise Application Despite Bearish Economy" saying

"Among retail BI vendors that attracted attention was Manthan for its dashboard-driven enterprise analytics and performance monitoring, which it has extended into retail-specific human resources, store performance, and loss prevention activities, among others."
